Title: AA's Northern NH Upland trip
Post by: aquaassassin on Oct 10, 2012, 08:51:17 PM
Left the house at 1:30am today and headed out to meet up with 3 buddies to do some cast/blast up north today. We made great time got there in under 3 hours. When we got up there it was 32* I was loving that. Never got above 48*. The Partridge were EVERYWHERE but very skittish seems as though they have been harassed hard over the last week, we must of put up around 30 birds but only had shots on 8 or so they were flushing from so far away. Ended up with 4 Partridge and a good Hare for the cause. We acted as our own flushing dogs because we don't have any. I stepped right on the bunny before it bolted didn't even know he was there it was a fast snap shot, for some reason I do better with those.  We were having a blast hunting so we never touched the fishing gear. Ran into a few small moose and deer as well, wish we ran into a bear but maybe next time. I made sure to swing into GMH's jobsite today to introduce myself and catch up a bit. Chucky is a gentleman and a scholar 8). Pleasure to meet you, I am sure we will cross paths soon. Please feel free to share your pics on this thread. Here are a couple of my pics on the day. ( The final count pic was when the day was over, I was not dirnking and hunting I have some common sense )  ;D

for years i stopped fishing october 1st and hunted patridge the rest of the year...however, the patridge down south are no existent and to ride all the way north is just too expensive...plus i love the idea of catching that giant bass in the late fall months...i am orginally from milan nh...went to school there during my elementary years and then was shipped to berlin...tons of logging roads and old railroad beds to walk...i miss it...you could easily shoot 15 to 20 patridge a season....good talking to you and keep up the good hunting...jibbsy

Does that mean it smells the way it did before the paper companies closed?

No, now it is more like a stew made of watermelon, fried chicken, and mayonaise sandwiches, with a 40 oz. mixed with kool-aid fruit punch for broth. If you catch my drift the paper mills were not so bad looking back :o

so true...the place blows now and you are exactly right...the low income housing and cheap rents have made for high crime and more incidents...last year or two years ago 2 guys broke into a old couples house...they roughed up the old lady...when they turned their back the old man went for his gun and blasted both guys...one in the head and the other in the stomach...one died where he stood and they found the other guy down the street...i guess the moral is don't mess with a redneck....as for the stache on freddy...i had it as a avatar and few years back on another site and someone thought it was me...hahaha..have fun this weekend...roll tide...even though i like the "U"

Yea worst you can do is have a leg like Hunt's  ::). 4ft. would be the deep trap ;D. 99% of the fishing is 2ft. down to 6 inches of water...... Awesome watching a giant humpback brookie swimming about sideways to nail a jig!

You litterally could, it is legal as long as the opening in the ice was man made...........
