Our season opened Monday and it’s been a tough first week. Started off really cold and rainy the last few days have been nice but the birds are going silent after fly down.
Tuesday I managed to get lucky and had one with three hens pitch down and work their way in. Was a big bird 1 3/8 spur on one side the other side was broken off but had a nice thick 11” beard as well. Wish I had a scale with me bird felt heavy guessing 24-25 lb range.

Thanks guys. No luck this weekend. Saw a lot of birds and called in 7 jakes but no gobblers in range. Did pick a few morels today though. Should be good on the backstrap I pulled out to grill up tomorrow.
