Saw a spike chasing a doe at 11 this morning. Rut must be in full swing. Hopefully rackasaurus comes in looking for that doe this afternoon!

Nothing like 60 degree weather to get the deer moving  :-\

I remember when it actually use to snow during deer season.

Sorry to hear that vermonner, Did you have a good time? That's what really matters. When you stop enjoying the hunting, it's time to quit. The killing is secondary, and that's when the real work all starts

Yeah, I enjoy myself and that's the point, of course.  I would like more opportunity though.  A few years ago, I hunted a long weekend in NH and saw 20+ deer.  I know that's probably well beyond the norm, but I'm thinking of trying different states. I hold a belief that our whitetail habitat is suboptimal due to logging restrictions and lack of cutting and it has been borne out to me, year after year, (20+ now) with diminished sightings of deer and decreasing opportunity.  I am a scent and wind conscious hunter who does not smoke.  I have my eye on New York and think I may make an effort to try it out over there next year to see if it is different/better.  Did you connect?

Yes we've had a good year so far. I connected on a nice 7 opening weekend of Northern zone, my son & another party member scored 2 7's opening day of Southern zone. 5 of us hunt together & we have 3 - good mature deer. We blanked last year though.
There are pics in the NY section under "we had a good opening day"

Near Hebron. Camp is on the NY side but he crosses over.
