Title: 2016 firearms buck
Post by: TallywackahME on Nov 30, 2016, 03:59:42 PM
Hey guys, Been super busy with life and haven't had a chance to get on the site at all. Hope you all have had a good season. I did get to take a few days here and there to hunt this fall. Killed a  small spike in velvet with my bow in sept and killed this guy on sat in NH. still have to find a minute to find some horns back in  Maine. Been in bucks and getting some nice pics but haven't got anything worth a damn off the end of my barrel yet. I killed him with a hand load I built this summer, 35 cal 225 gr woodliegh round nose a little over 2600 fps from my Whelen carbine.  He didn't like it much. Good luck n take care!

I have no idea what he weighed. I knew he wasn't 200 once I got my mitts on him so I didn't bother weighing him. He was pretty poor shape and run down...if I had to guess He was right at 170 +/-

Nice Bruiser Brotha! I'll bet if ya got em a month ago, well over 200 lbs. filled the freezer this year with 3 nice deer around the concord, loudon area, but I miss the big woods man.

For fun, I've always girth taped them before I dress em out. It's always been within 5-10 lbs accurate. My tape tells live weight, dressed weight and est. meat yield. He taped 175  so that put live weight at 220 and yield about 80lbs of meat. Which I got back 85 lbs but that includes some pork fat for sausage. I didn't do any burger since I have a beef creature anyways.
