I think the bucks are scent checking and actively looking for does now but I haven't seen any chasing yet.  I hope they stay active until next weekend.  In my experience the big buck's stupid phase only lasts a week or so and then they go nocturnal again.

It's not that they go nocturnal, it's just once the does are in heat the bucks tend to stick with them as apposed to running around blind trying to find them.  The next ten days should be a blast!

im in montgomery county and im still seeing does with yearlings...and no chasing...there are new scrapes popping up just about every day but i have seen no evidence of the rut being in full swing as of yet...

The chase is on in our county. I had an 8-pt chase a doe right in front of me on the way to work this morning.
Tresspassing on my land is bad, Tresspassing on my land with an ATV will get you shot!

A few days ago I seen 3 buck chasing 1 doe.They crossed the road right in front of me,and the biggest was around a 17" wide 8 pointer.

The rut is on and im hoping that big one will be on the hunt for a doe this Saturday! ;D

Im hunting PA and NY state this year so I get 2 opening days.You gotta love living on the border of 2 states. ;)
