TC Encore .25-06 15" Barrel The 25-06 is an excellent choice for Whitetail, Mule Deer, Antelope, and similar sized game.  It offers very flat shooting for ranges up to and a little over 300 yards.  It is also a very capable varmit round.  I generally load 120 gr. for larger game, and between 75-90 gr. for a varmit round.  Since the TC Encore in 15" Barrel Length is considered a pistol, I generally in the past have carried this along with the harder hitting 7mm Weatherby Mag, generally loading a factory round of 160 gr.  IMO, the 7mm Weatherby Mag is capable of knocking down just about anything, with incredible amounts of energy!

One more thing.  I have yet to hunt in NYS with centerfire.  I was raised out west, and hunted there primarily.  I'm anxious to get into the hunt here in NYS especially with the regs allowing for centerfire rounds.

I have 2 favorite guns. one is a single shot 12 guage from NE Firearms, great gut for squirrel, grouse, turkey. The other is my Remington 870 express magnum 12 guage shot gun with a 1 1/2 x scope on it.
