I've been out a few times, had quite a few flushes but havent got one yet. I more hear the flush then see it, there are still too many leaves on the trees.

In Manitoba our daily limit is 6 ruffed, 6 spruce and 6 sharptail grouse.

If it can't get done outdoors, it isn't going to get done!

Sprucies - We've got them here and they're legal but we never shoot them because my dad says they taste like spruce trees. Are they any good where you are? We only take ruffies. I got one I'm really proud of......he flushed straight up for about 50 feet and I nailed him bang on from about 25 yards with the .410 ;D I'm up to nine.......hoping for at least 15 by the time season runs out (Nov 5th)

Bagged to date:

They taste like spruce needles out here my now, but there is a method of getting rid of that taste.  Its a marinade that neutralise's the taste but I can't remember the recipe off hand but when I find it I'll post back.

I can't find the recipe but its a mix of water and vinegar and then soaking for an hour or so.  People also use milk but I have not tried the milk method.

I also hunt with a 20 gauge shotgun. I had a shot at a couple birds this past fall but I missed, me and my dad also got to do some deer scouting. We had a lot of fun hunting and scouting.
