Some may have seen the thread where I found a good dead 8pt while shed hunting. I decided I was going to do my first DIY Euro mount on him. It was a nasty/smelly job he had maggots all in his skull when I cut the hide off. I was able to get most of the stuff out before boiling it. Only had to boil it for about a half hour since the maggots helped me out. I got lucky and the skull stayed in one piece only thing missing was one tooth. Which was missing when I took the hide off the skull. I read on another site about guys using flat white spray paint on the skull instead of the peroxide paste. So I decided to go that route with Spray Kilz. I havent put the tape to him yet but I will do that soon. Any guesses? For comparison I am 6'1 205 lbs. Going to make a plaque for it out of old barn wood next weekend. Here are some before, during and after pics.

How come you didnt save the bottom jaw?
Not sure I kinda wish I did. It was only hanging on by one side after I got it out of the ground. So I just stepped on the one side and pulled it off. I was not really thinking about it at the time I guess.

Just put the tape to it. Came up with 127 5/8 Gross and 124 4/8 Net. Half inch shy of P&Y unofficially.

No not right now the barn wood is at Brian's. I will post up some pics once I finish the plaque.

I deleted all of them along with my journal. I had planned on leaving MHF a few months due to others trying to ruin my hunting credability. Along with picking arguments with me. Then I thought screw that I was here first and I'm not going anywhere. Now I see most have gone. ??? As a matter of fact I see they are still talking about me. Talk about leaving a lasting impression on people.

Dodged a bullet on that one. We were supposed to get it but only got about 3 1/2 inches then it switched to rain mid-day yesterday(To warm). The ground was covered this morning but its all gone now since it was almost 50 degrees today. :) Which now I can get back to shed hunting since I dont have to work till Sunday. ;D ;D

I am fully aware of that. Was just wondering if he would score high enough to qualify. The area he was found in would be a bow hunting only area.

He's finally finished. I cant take credit for the whole job Brian helped me with it. I think it turned out great that old barn wood really sets it off. Here are some pics before and after it went on the wall. I think we gave him some justice even though I didnt kill him. What do you all think? PS the new photobucket is crap!

It looks great drobs, I have an 8 pointer that I found and bought what they call a buck boiler from Cabelas, which did a good job, just took almost 8 hrs to boil out. And I don't have any idea how to post a picture. I will have to call my sister, she knows more about these computers than I do.
