I filmed my buddy hitting this main frame 7 this morning. The arrow went in really high but didn't pass through and it looks like 3/4 of the arrow penetrated and stayed inside the deer. We waited 4 fours an trailed it about 100 yards then decided we would pursure him tmrw to give him time. All we found was hair where he shot it. I'm thinking it could have possibly hit the top of the offside lung as I think the arrow defected down into the deer.
Just looking to see if you guys think it hit a vital where he will die. I'm not thinking we will find a blood trail with the hit so high.
Going back tmrw to grid search the wood lot and see what we can find.

GOOD LUCK FINDING HIM
-
:-\..think your in for a long tracking job....but it's doable...good luck

I don't want to be to negative, but that looked real high. From the angle I could see it looked like that shot may have been over the spine and may have only got back strap. Looked a bit back too. Hope you guys find him today, but if he's down the trail will be real tough too unless you have fresh snow to follow his tracks in.

I can't believe that deer didn't drop in it's tracks!!! :-\ Looks like spine to me!!

looks just over the spine to me. I don't think that deer will die right away, maybe from infection if it doesn't heel up good. To bad, nice deer. Another one ducks the string. 8)

No luck we started at 8 this morning and now are soaking wet from the snow and rain. We must have watched it 1,000 times last night. All I can figure is it must have hit the vertebra that stopped the arrow normally a high shot like the arrow zips through and there is blood. What I don't get is how the arrow penetrated that much. I know it was a big deer over 200 lbs on the hoof but there was at least 15"of arrow in him. As it didn't poke out the other side. Got about 2 hours of searching before the snow started and we couldn't find a drop of blood. I followed its running tracks for another 100 yards or so before he slowed down some and I started to get mixed u with some other deer tracks. We searched high and low after that and we just couldn't find anything. I'm hoping he is still going and its just a not fatal hit.

I don't believe it is a fatal hit... he should survive they're pretty tough!

Just watched the video on my phone and realized I've got pics of this buck this summer and he's bigger
