BIRD thread!
« on: Oct 03, 2012, 12:22:47 PM »
Just made the "migration" from myfishfinder, anybody been hitting the waterfowl or grouse lately, come end of September I begin obsessing about what's flying around and dreaming about sitting in the swamp. So far we've been putting the smack down!! Only been shooting mallards and teals, picked up 2 limits of blue wings 18 minutes into shooting light this morning.

I'm really digging the season so far, I've seen alot of birds, got a couple new spots, it can only get better. Ill probably bump this thread with random pictures from now till january, feel free to do the same!! Good luck everyone!!

Got out this morning, first bird, this nice bull canvasback, Alright!

birds were working just outside the deeks, shoulda taken a couple shots, but passed in hopes of decoying birds, then they'd land just out of range. Managed two blue wings and two green wings to wrap up the day.

Our cold spell last week pushed alot of birds outta here.

Good seeing ya over here!  Been out a couple times for grouse and only had one good day and that was the opener.  My 14 year old passed hunters ed this year so I been out a bunch with him jump shooting ducks.  He hasn't connected yet but hope he will soon.  How's fishing been?  Doing any cast and blast?  We otta get together and do a cast and blast boat float.

Once duck season starts I'm done fishing till ice up, I get so wrapped up I can only handle one or the other. Ive done a little chicken hunting, only got one, but the fowl have been incredible so far!
I really enjoy duck meat. I usually deep fry it, but its awesome in the slow cooker for a stew! Rough birds, (divers) will make really good jerky.
