« on: Sep 22, 2011, 12:34:05 PM »

Have you guys seen the weather forcast for the 7 days, RAIN, SHOWERS, THUNDER STORMS. It really sucks for being out in a stand or just scouting around.  >:( I guess I'll to invest in a good set of rain gear, any suggestions.

For 20 buck's the tree umbrellas are unbeatable too.

yea this weather has sucked.  I usually like to hang stands and scout right before or during a rain but this year has been a little ridiculous.

Scouting in the rain is good becuase it keeps your scent down.
Tresspassing on my land is bad, Tresspassing on my land with an ATV will get you shot!

But if ya got a bird dog rain helps with scent.

RAIN MAKES MORE SCENTS
Another advantage of hunting in wet weather is that it provides better scenting conditions for hunting dogs. Scent dissipates quickly in dry air, while moisture tends to hold scent molecules down. The moisture also makes it easier for the dog to absorb scent. That’s why they lick their noses so often.

USE WHAT YA GOT TO GET WHAT YA NEED !

The farmers almanac is forecasting alot of snow for this winter, if the amount of rain we've had is any indication, the almanac may be correct.  Has anyone seen the Woolybear Caterpilars this year? They are all brown instead of black- brown - black or have very little black.  I hope the wives tale of the length of color stripes on the Wooleybear being  a sign of seasonal duration is just a myth.
