2007 Spring Turkey
« on: May 08, 2007, 08:30:19 PM »
Anyone having any luck yet?  I made it out opening day and had 20-30 birds around me and my friend but they snuck past us.  I manage to call in a bearded hen at 9am opening day with no chance to shoot it.  I have had 2 people tell me that if i get the chance again to shoot it since a bearded hen is very rare and worth taking.  I guess i can agree with them but in the hunting book it ask's that if you indentify a bearded hen not to shoot it.  What do you guys think?  Does a bearded hen still breed and get ther respect that a non bearded hen would get with males and other hens?
I love animals!  There so tasty.

Yup!  I called in two diff. hunters last fri. on the State land, I can't understand why anyone would try sneaking up on a hen.
If you hear a hen in one spot for very long generally it is a hunter, all the years I've hunted , Ihave yet to see a real hen stand in one spot and call out , they always walk around.

i called in a hunter a few years ago, came in to 30 yards but never offered a shot... lol... he was a great stalker, especially when he didnt even see the hen decoy that was 10 yards from him
When in doubt....BACK OUT
