Myemmy, tht is common. Ruger twisted their barrels 1-12". More suited for longer heavier bullets. Frank shoots them cuz well, he weird :o

Looked at Remington's catalog seems they don't  chamber the auto or pump in the whelan any more also I don't think Ruger  has any either!!

No no Remington's in 10 years, I got 3 of the pumps lol.  You can find the autos everywhere here in the carbine, best single shot you'll ever shoot is that 750 whelen and that's why. If you hurry grices is selling a few hundred ruger 35 whelens right now

I beg to differ, it's not a magnum and does no more meat damage than a hot loaded .264 just bigger hole

Over gunned?? Please. Hard hitting, medium recoil, big leaky holes if they even move and eat to the bullet hole. You ask "why"...i say 'why not'.

Its okay man. Lotsa ppl suffer from whelen envy  ;)

With tht logic 50 cal smoke poles @ 2200 are too much for white tails too.

An '06 slinging 150s or a 7-08 pushing green box 140s is far more 'explosive' and creates far more blood shot meat then any whelen load all the while not having the snot to drive through a big bodied white tail north to south.

Thats the beauty of the col. It just plain works and works WELL on everything from wood chucks to brown bear with loads from 150gr hollow point pistol bullets to 310 woodlieghs and everythimg in between.

So, that means  in shotgun only area limit to a 12 gauge 2/34 but they have 3 inch mag,or 3.5 mag or use a 10 gauge with slugs, hole size wow ! You shoot with what you feel comfortable. With!!
