We pulled it out with a Rhino one of those side by side 4 wheelers. Put the head in the back of the Rhino and dragged the rest. He was about a mile and a half in the woods. He was in a old clear cut so there was a old skidder trail that went right up to where he was, in fact he flopped right in the skidder trail. Only took about a hour from the time we unloaded the Rhino till the time we winched him onto the snowmobile trailer. Was a pretty slick operation.

werent no insults intended....i was just stating that your eastern moose are far smaller in size than ours, would sorta be nice considering how easy it would be to pack them out....we can only get one quarter out at a time per man. the spike/fork i shot last fall in Denali Highway had quarters that weighed about 250lbs each.....it sucked.....

They don't get as big here as they do there I would consider this one to be slightly over medium sized with anything over 800lbs being a big one. The NH state record I believe is just over 1000lbs but from what I have seen the antler growth on a moose of this age from NH compared to Alaska is substantially larger. Looking at the picture it is kind of hard to tell the actual size of them compared to me but to put a little prospective on it I am 6'4 and weigh 270lbs. I should be getting the mount back in a month or two I will post a picture of it hanging on the wall.

Nice Moose.  I'm from VT and have seen some hogs in the White Mtns. My uncle has a video of 2 huge bulls from that area they watched for 45mins, he was a guide and they had a Cow only tag.  He showed the video to one of the NH biologists and he said they both would have been state records!

Thats because the moose you have in Alaska are a different species of moose than we have.
theres five different species of moose out there.
Alaskan ,Eastern Canada, western Canada, European, and the little fellas, shiras moose

I'm jealous, I have hunted moose for 6 years at our fly-in cabin here in Manitoba and have only seen one bull moose and couldn't get a shot at it as it was leaving. I just gave up now, I'm going to go shoot a caribou now.
