2nd rut

"old timer" at the gun club just told me he believes that this weekend we should see another surge of chasing. Not sure it  means anything but its what he said. What do you guys think.

           I believe we're still in the 1st rut here, I guess it depends where you are. The 2nd rut is not for a while. ???

"old timer".....I resemble that remark.....Usually not until the week after the season closes here....then you will find where the young doe and those not breed coming in....with some doe dropping fawns in August...I'm thinking they were still breeding in January.....

I got this nice 7 pointer down in Westchester county yesterday morning with my bow. He was chasing a doe along with a 6 pt and a spike.

He was chasing a doe, he was 20 yards broadside when I shot. Hit both lungs.  he ran about 30 yards and collapsed at the edge of a steep hill then rolled down it for about 200 feet before crashing into a stone wall. I cringed the whole time I heard him tumbling down the mountain.
