Well, unfortunately it was not my namesake gun. I was hunting w/the 30-06 my son gave me for fathers day a couple of yrs. ago. I like hunting w/my 30-30 when I'm in heavy brush but where I was hunting it was open hardwoods & I would be sitting a lot. The 30-06 also has a scope & my son says that my old eyes need some help. ::)

Nice bear.   I have one scratching and biting my camp.  He needs to be taken out of the food chain before he breaks in.  You can come over and have two rugs made.
