I bought a 30 06 this year to replace my 30 30. I live in unit m so not much really a use for a rifle except for deer camp I go to in VT for three days.

Can't go wrong with either.......I personaly have a Savage 110E in 270........Inexpensive & Very accurate! I also agree with Grampa......I hunt with both a T/C Contender & a NEF 308......Single Shot......Makes you be patient for the "right" shot

I've hunted with both, and they are both great calibers.  Between the two I would personally lean towards the 270 because of its flat shooting.

I currently hunt with a 7mm and love it, best of both worlds (flat shooting, and knock down power).  But it kicks like a mule!  I'm looking into the 25-06 for my next firearm.  My son will be old enough next year and this caliber looks very promising.
