Managed to get back out last night. Had a early spring birth fawn go by at about 20 yards. Passed on it. While sitting there I could hear bleating behind me so I decided to hit the bleat can. Well I got a response. Grunts. I was like great, BUCK!! I hit  the can a few more times. Grunt, grunt, grunt. At first I thought it might have been another hunter, but then it started to move towards me. It was coming in on my right so I had to stand up and turn that way. Have not practiced a lot of standing shots from stands, so it felt a little awkward. But I seen it coming, drew my bow. Thinking buck the whole way I was surprised to see a mature doe, (I think). So I bleated at it to stop it. Placed my pin and released. Missed low and to the right, near the lower edge of the stomach towards the back leg. OH CRAP! What did I do? Flinch? So I sit out the last 30 minutes and get down to check the arrow. Grazed her. Only fat glaze on the arrow, no blood or paunch.  But I was missing a fletch. So after meeting up with a buddy of mine. We figured I may have nocked my arrow upside down!! :-/ What a terrible feeling. But I'm glad she/him will live another day.
She showed up on the camera right after I left....looks like she's fine!!  :)

Saw quite a few bucks this weekend. Had 3 sparing for 2 hours Saturday night right in front of me. They got right to 30 yards I'd draw back and right back to fighting again they'd go. They chased each other around the field then start working their way back towards me. Three times I came to full draw and every time the one I was aiming for would either pick a fight or get confronted by the other bucks. It was the most awesome hunt I ever had. Absolutely amazing to watch. We don't see bucks spar much up here

Walking into my stand this morning at 7:15,this guy was up ahead of me,I waited till it turned left and put a powerbelt clean through it at an angle,I walked up to where I shot and 20 feet away the buck was still standing but wobbling as it tried to walk,I took off my pack and dug through it looking for my powder and bullets, when I finally reloaded the buck just fell over,I didn't have to shoot it again.

Nice one Joe! Congrats. Been a busy week. My son was born opening day of muzzeloading. Never missed an opener but worth every second.  Hopefully I can sneak out tonight
