What barrel is in the contender?

30-30 Winchester. Hand loads of Sierra 125gr. Jacketed Hollow Points. Puts them down nice and usually complete energy transfer. I find the Slug just under the hide on the far side.

I had tried 125 spitzers but they passed through and deer acted like it was never hit. didn't like them walking off 60 yards. Hate tracking. The hollow points expand perfectly and never had 1 go more then 20 yards and you know when they got hit, even with a pass through. Took a bit of tinkering but finally settled on 24.0 grains of IMR 4227 with a CCI 200 primer pushing the Sierra 125 jacketed Hollow Point. Hits hard, and not much muzzle jump. Very mild shooting for a hand cannon.

Have not seen where there are many handgun/hand cannon hunters on here. Been surfing through threads but not much mention.

Nice!

Yeah, not common on here. You’d think I’d buy one and try it being as all the contenders were made right down the street from here and are a dime a dozen
