What hit me in the head this morning

I opened my garage door this morning and this little guy bounced of my head.  It is a northern saw-wheat owl. They only get about 7 inches tall. THis one let me get close enough to take his picture. I opened the garage door and he flew out.

I read up about them this morning, they only grow 7 inches tall, in the fall and winter they make a cooing sound, the like coniferous forests, and they eat small rodents. I think it might have been attracted by the smell of my rabbit which lives in my garage. My rabbit is 15 pounds and many times the size of this owl.

Thats funny, there was a picture in my local newspaper yesterday of a saw-wheat owl in someones garage...guess they have a thing for them
