I never thought to post this in the Maine page but being that’s where this buck was taken I figured I’d share…

I took this buck on 11/16. I had been in the swamps like I like to do but it had been so cold it froze enough for the deer to not feel comfortable and they vacated. I decided to hit a hardwood ridge with a brook below instead on this afternoon. Within a minute of being on stand I could hear the familiar sound of hooves punching leaves in the below avg. freezing temps. I looked over and saw a Buck I was familiar with appear at 50 yards and go to the brook and stop. I got all 4 rounds racked and into him in his 30 yard death sprint with my .280 Rem. Browning X-bolt and he went down.

Thanks! He was all rutted out and run ragged. 156 lbs couldn’t believe it. Frame of a far larger deer and you could tell he was

Wow, what a beautiful Maine Buck.  The fact that you are on fire probably helped keep you warm, I was hunting up at camp in Northwestern Maine during that time frame and it was the coldest deer hunting trip I have ever been on in 39 years! Very tough conditions to sit for any length of time, congratulations!

Lmaoooo, amazing how many more see it and start a convo though just by putting it on a diff states page. Be nice if these welcome threads and joke threads didn’t bump all these real threads down off the main page. You know the ones, zero replies too in recent memory and used as means to up a post count with no other interaction.
