Title: Any chasing?
Post by: BearHunter60 on Oct 27, 2012, 12:33:43 PM
Anyone starting to see any rut activities in Mass? I've been in my stand almost every day and have only been seeing does by themselves. Bucks seem to still be hiding out. Anyone in Western Mass have anything happening around them?

Ok hold on before this gets out of control. I have never and will never take any credible hunting advise from anyone but Harrie.  Now for the rage. I felt like I made a good shot the other night. At least one good enough to kill the deer. After not finding it I did some research on broad heads. The rage got great reviews so I figured I would try them. I'm not doing it because I think the rage will make a bad shot good and I passed on two shots tonight because they were going to be bad. I've seen what the rage can do and I'm just giving them a chance that's all. If there the best or at least the ones that got the best reviews from many don't know what the harm is. It is probably just me.  I get to nervous when a deer comes and probably am not the best shot. I'll take whatever help I can.

I killed a 4 pt two years ago with a 2 blade rage and wasn't really impressed. Out of the box they weren't even sharp. Did the job but I switched up anyways. Shot a bear with NAP spitfire maxx last year and did one hell of a number on it. Hoping to try them out on a deer this week if the weather cooperates

I use the rage two blade and love them. Never had any issues at all with them.

Saw some chasing late last week.....mostly lil guys. As far as broadheads........ I know quite a few guys that have changed to spitfires after they have actualy witnessed the destruction. I have shot everyone of my bow kills with spits and never had any issues.....Fist sized exit wounds make for less tracking!

I have not seen any chasing yet but I have a feeling I'm about to.
I have used spitfires since I started bow hunting. I hit a coyote sunday and only have 1 left and I will be buying the
G5 T3's today they look devastating.

The rut is starting to kick in. Last night around 5:30 I had a 4 pt come running by me frantically looking for a doe. Nose to the ground with his tail flicking all over the place. Couldn't get off a shot since he was moving so fast. Shot him a couple grunt calls but nothing. What I would have done to have my can call in the stand

My uncle called me last night to say he saw the biggest buck he'd seen in a long time chasing two does in a field just outside of Albany. I saw a very big bodied deer in a gutter on my way to work where there usually aren't deer crossing. This weekend should be a great time to be in the woods as much as possible.

Nothing quite like the chance of snow to kick the rut into gear. Anyone trying or having any luck calling?

Saw a buck chasing, a hot doe she did her thing in a big scrape and had a huge 8 walk right up to me in a field like he wanted to fight me.
It defiantly ON now.
