1st Northern Maine Hunt

well...with no luck so far in southern/central maine, me and a buddy are heading north in about 2 hours...Patten to be exact. Got a cabin at Patten Hunting Lodge for the next 4 nights.

I just came back from nothern Maine"Smyrna Mills" no luck saw a few does. Was told by the wardens that it was a good beech nut year and that the were getting some mostly around the fields. Good luck.

one word to describe the trip.....SKUNK...lol    Saw a bunch of moose and a few deer in fields, but nothing to shoot at. weather was awful....wind, rain and warm.  oh well.....got a week left and I'm not about to give up yet.

As far as weather goes, you had one of the worst weeks during rifle season we've had in a long time. What little I've hunted up north, I think it's a hard area to hunt. I'm a lot more familiar with the woods and deer patterns around my house. I only see does for the most part, but atleast I'm seeing deer. If I was offered a trip to go up north though, I'd jump at the chance. Most of the country side is a lot different than around here, and it's always fun to explore new areas.
