scary suprise

was out hunting with my neighbor yesterday and we stumbled upoun this black bear cub. we didn't notice it until we were pretty much on top of the thing. as as we saw it I just started looking for momma bear. my neighbor snapped this pic and then we got about 100 yards from the thing and called fish and game. they have been looking for this bear cub as its been seen in multiple towns with out the mom. apparently the sow was hit by a car a few towns north. fish and game just asked us questions if we thought the bear was healthy and then asked us to send them pictures. they said they might come out today and try to catch it. I didn't see why they wouldn't just do it when we had the thing infront of us up a tree? I highly doubt this cub will make it on its own. oh well thats nature, just makes me nervous that there might be an upset sow out behind the house.

We have an Animal Park in Gray, where a lot of orphaned wildlife go.

Cool picture! Looks like he's posing for you on that log  ;D I got in between a sow and her cub two years ago when I was just walking behind my house. It was a pretty hair situation!

I got a video of it too that I will post tonight, I was just gonna send the biologist a video so they could judge the health.

I had the same thing happen to me while I was moose hunting this fall I had a bear tag came around a corner and one took off into the woods so I bailed got 20 feet off the logging road and saw 2 cubs so backed out real slow and carefully.  They hung around there all afternoon so we figured momma bear must have gotten shot or something cause there was allot of traffic down that road.  Its cool to see them though just hanging out.
