.45 colt as a deer round?
« on: Aug 20, 2011, 04:40:38 PM »
I just picked up a rossi/ taurus Circuit Judge carbine that shoots .45 colts and .410 shot shells. With a 2x3-7x leupold scope on here. Ammunition type is Federal Premium 225 grain hollow point wad cutters, and .410 high brass slugs. Will this make enough damage in the right spot at more than bow range? Or am I better off getting a bayonet for it and turning it into a javelin? Hindsight is 20/20 but they can't keep these on the shelves and I got lucky and they had one so I hopped on it like white on rice for $500 for rifle, $130 scope, $30 in ammo, and $40 for trigger lock and hard case. Thanks for the input by the way!

Sounds like a neat firearm but it wouldn't be my choice for a deer gun.
