(AKA Rodrunners) 2010 Archery muley...
« on: Sep 23, 2010, 01:03:42 PM »
Hey fellas. Its rodrunner from the fish'n forums. I always said I wanted to take a break from elk and go after muley bucks with my bow. This year I did just that. It was a huge challenge mentally and a very humbling expierence. After 9 stalks and no deer I was get'n frustrated. Stalk number 10 put me 24 yrds above a stud buck. I stood there for 2 hrs and 20 mins waitn for him to get up. Yep that long. Buck saw me draw and blew out of there. That mentally broke me. Thats a long time to stand and stare at a 180 inch class deers antlers and not get a shot. I was all but ready to give up. Well, stalk number 11 payed off!!! 38 yard shot, deer went 50 yards and tipped over.  ;D I'm here to tell you that my feet are SORE from stalking in my socks!!! :-\

thx everyone..I'm fortunate to have a wife who supports my obsession. I'm also fortunate to have a stubborn never give up will and confidence that keeps me roll'n!!! Believe me there were a couple times that I just wanted to say F-it and go back to camp and drink beer. Glad I toughed it out and stuck with it! I'm also a very humbled hunter. I've always focused my atention on elk. No doubt about it, Muleys are a different breed. Took some serious adjustments in my hunting tactics to bag one..I love it!!! Thx for listening. I'm still on my own little cloud. ;)
