Title: Anyone else film?
Post by: benny8 on Jul 22, 2020, 04:04:47 AM
I picked up a Canon Vixia HF S200 last year with high hopes of filming hunts. I didn't even bring it out with me once and after the opening muzzleloader weekend we had, I was kicking myself. So, this year, I plan to bring it on every hunt. My wife and I sit together while she still has tags, so, hopefully we can get one on film this year. In other news, I have started a walking regimen to get into a little better shape for this hunting season. I subscribe to the Big Woods Bucks YouTube channel and my buddy Matt Breton posted a video on Off Season Fitness. I have started that walking and strength training plan, so hopefully when I kill my 200+ lb buck this year( ::), I won't have any issues dragging him out. LOL. Also, we have started an outdoor page on FB. It is just basically sharing our outdoor adventures and we encourage everyone to share theirs to our page. It is called Fam Bam Outdoors. Have a great day everyone!

Never have filmed short of taking vids with my iPhone in the tree lol. I’d love to but I know I’d say eh maybe next time when it came down to it as I headed out the door so I won’t waste the cash.

Most of the GoPro style vids I see anyhow you don’t even know what you’re watching so I don’t see the point.

I think you have the right idea using a actual real cam. I don’t have a Facebook trying to be the last 35 year old in the world with none besides here lol

I hear ya Frank. I wouldn't have it if it wasn't for family spread across the country. So, seeing as I use it, I said what the hell.

I film mainly fishing and trapping. The one time I had a gobbler come in right where the cam is pointed, I had the wrong cam housing so I never turned on the cam. The right housing blacks out all the light emitted by cam. The gobbler came in and I was able to drop it at 15yards. Hoping to get successful footage of a deer hunt or turkey some time. I'm just using a knockoff GoPro, a SJ4000, they are only about $80 bucks.

This guy is a very talented photographer, and newb too hunting, but he has some really great videos:

I think you can do it, but you’re going to have to really plan out how to film/hunt successfully I would guess.

my experience with trying to film hunts is the damn deer or turkey always come out where the camera is not pointed so i have some great audio clips :o. also tried bringing my daughter out to film one time got about an hr and a half of selfie footage and the ass end of a deer running away after the shot lol.
