« on: Jun 12, 2012, 12:35:36 PM »
I cant quite make out the 5th and 6th #'s in the serial #...  Was just wondering how to find out how old it is...   From what I can make out the #'s are 4464 (3?) (8?) 9...

My 30-30's serial # is 5 million something & boufht it new in 1979 so I'd say it would be in the 60's.

Boy I guess I was way off, I punched in the 4 digits you had then jusyt picked 2 @ random. I thought they would have produced a million @ least 2 decades. Of course now that I think about it the majority would have been produced in the earlier yrs. I learn something new all the time. I redid the search, 1st I did 446401 then I did 446499 & I got 1908 for both.

No scope, I use mine when I know I will be in real heavy brush, it's lite & easy to bring up fast & sight to target, a box of 20 rounds cost around $20 depending where you get them. I like to use Winchester brand but have used Rems. @ times. It is a real dependable rifle, after all it was 1 of the guns that won the west. Good luck w/it, it'll drop anything here in N.Y.

Great gun!!  Killed my first Buck with a '94 in 38-55.....
Most have switched to leverlution ammo....they are safer, and they are extremely accurate... ;)
