Hey GJ - I pretty much whiffed on the icefishing season, only getting out once for a kid's tourney with my buddy and his nephews.  Hopefully next year will be better.

Good Afternoon Folks,   Another nice weekend at camp.  The super warm weather last week made for some big changes -  Most notable was no snow:

The previously mentioned warm weather also put a hurting on the sap - We only collected 20 gal - But still enough to boil...

Had to trade out the dog-sled for an old wheeled trailer:

The primary tools of the trade:

Moved the sap into camp for the final boil:

The hydrometer and test tube ready to go:

Straining the final product:

Super dark syrup usually indicates the season is coming to a close -  Hopefully that's not the case.   Significant change from last week's syrup (pictured on the right):

Went for a ride on the 4-wheeler to check on the woodlot - The new foodplot looks pretty sad without anything growing.  Hopefully that'll change in a couple months...

A little trail damage over the winter:

I need to do some pruning on the old apple tree:

Any idea what would do this?  I was thinking a porcupine, but have never seen them doing this to such a small tree.

Grubb and the Mrs. stopped by for a nice visit.   All in all it was a great weekend!!!!

Until next Sunday - Have a great week folks!!!

Look's like a porcipine but surprised the white pine was his choice of snack. You have some nice pic's as usual Bud. Thanks.

Good Morning Folks,  Just back from another great weekend at camp - This trip with Dad.

Old Mother Nature is a fickle lady - Back to having snow on the ground:

Alot of cold weather last week, so no sap -  On to plan "B" - Always plenty of projects at camp.

We pruned the apple tree I mentioned last week:

Mom and Dad needed a new clothes line, so we found a good cedar tree and got a couple new posts - Dad taking out a "twitch":

And we left some good grub for the deer herd:

And still had some left over for next winter's kindling wood:

We also got a couple more trails trimmed out and cut up several trees that were down.  All in all it was a very productive weekend - And the sap was flowing good yesturday afternoon, so next week I should have a better maple syrup update.

Until next weekend - Hope all is going well for everyone!!

Great pics of you weekends @ camp, there's always something to do @ camp. I'm sure our camp up in the NMW needs some attention.
