Vintage deer camp pictures
« on: Dec 05, 2011, 09:22:45 AM »
I was with family over the weekend digging through old photo albums. I thought I would share a few pictures I found. I remember seeing some of these pictures as a kid. It was pretty cool to see them again. The first is of a buck that my grandfather (on the left) shot sometime in the 50's. It supposedly weighed in at 308lb after hanging for a few days. The second is of the game pole at my families camp. Unfortunately its no longer in the family. The third is the same game pole with my dad, grandfather, great grandparents and great uncle standing in front. I would say this was in the mid to late 60's. I don't have the specifics of the buck in the last two photos but I remember it hanging on the wall.

Cool Pics Man! Gotta love those old bruiser Maine bucks! They are far and few these days. I forgot that I had an old picture of my grandfather and his brother with a couple big Maine bucks from back in the late 40's early 50's. My grandfather is the one sitting on the hood. Wish I could have gotten my hands on that old rifle...

Aien't that the truth, although the heart and mind of a 25 year old young man drives the hunt, the 56 year old body just does not want to cooperate!

Ahhhhhhhhh yes.  Pics of old, when they used to log forests and people actually got deer because there were deer to get because they logged forests and people got deer because there were actually deer to get.

These guys would bag tons of big, quality bucks in wool clothes, without scent control and if you used a tree stand, you were in the minority.  These days all you get is talk of antler restrictions and zero action to improve a deer herd.

Born 50 years too late.
