That 7mm08 will drop moose without a problem. Fine all around gun. Great deer gun. 8) Get out there and hunt this fall.

I have a 7mm-08 and love it. Most people call it a girl gun, but at 4.25 lbs I can carry it all day and it doesnt feel like I am carrying a crowbar.

Girl gun?? Hahaha. Not at all. 140 grains is not a small bullet i dont care what anyone says. I agree with ya. Let people carry there 7.5 pound 300 win mags around i'll stick to my 5lber and still out shoot em. hahaha. I know a guy who hunts deer with a .222 and kills every yr. I think hes only shootin like 80 or 90 grain bullets.

thanks for the input on the 7mm08. here's another question about scope choice...is the 3-9x nikon good for that rifle's capabilities?...i've seen some ballistic reports saying that the 7mm08 has enough knock down power at 500yrds to drop a deer. any truth to that?

Exactly what i have on my gun, a nikon 3x9x40. Real nice scope i love it, works good on my gun  ;D. I dont see why it wouldnt drop a deer at 500yds if you can hit it. Look how far those .308 sniper rifles shoot and drop people in their tracks. If i knew i could hit a deer accurately at 500yds i wouldnt hesitate with my 7-08. Hope this helps

3x9x should be plenty of scope. Where and what do you plan to hunt?
My average distance on deer and coyotes is about 60 yards.
